CFCE Center Staff
The Carolina First Center for Excellence has a staff of 1.5 people: Michele
Brinn, vice president for workforce development and education and Tami Miller,
manager of the Carolina First Center for Excellence.
Since
1995, Michele Brinn has served as vice president for Workforce Development at
the Greenville Chamber of Commerce. Specific responsibilities include overseeing
issues relating to workforce, education and leadership development. Prior to her
position at the Chamber, Brinn taught math at a middle school and at Greenville
Tech.
As executive director, Brinn works to insure continued sustainability of the
Center by working on strategic development, fundraising, public relations, and
serving as chair for the advisory board. In addition, she works closely with
School District management to train and coach them on continuous quality
improvement methods thereby creating an environment for systemic change
throughout the whole organization. She was also named to the Transition
Education Leadership Team for South Carolina State Superintendent of
Education-elect Jim Rex in December 2006.
Tami Miller joined the Carolina First Center for Excellence as manager in June 2008. Tami Miller obtained her undergraduate degree from Erksine College and her Master’s from Piedmont College. Prior to her position with the Chamber, Tami worked as an ADEPT Teach Leader for Greenville County Schools.
As manager of the Center, Tami works with selected schools in the Greenville County School District to help create strategic plan/mission statement; reinforce, model, and focus on achieving the school plan; facilitate, plan, and conduct effective meetings; support principals and administrators in new leadership roles; support teachers in new roles as decision makers and researchers; assist schools in analyzing and using measures of process; and, help staff to think beyond current boundaries and to focus on school vision.
