“The engaging program has offered insight
into the wonderful opportunities that abound in our community, as well as the
difficult challenges faced by many in our midst, sparking in me a keen interest
in public service and a strong desire to make a difference.”
Modeled after the Greenville Chamber’s signature Leadership Greenville program, Youth Leadership Greenville (YLG) is designed to bring awareness to young people, challenge them to become engaged citizens, and prepare them to serve in leadership positions within our community. YLG participants are provided the opportunity to develop an awareness of community needs, the leadership skills necessary to meet those needs, and to work collaboratively with community leaders. Class days include topic discussions on Greenville’s history, quality of life, government, justice, human services, and the economy. In addition to class days, participants get involved in a class project that addresses and benefits a specific community need. Students apply to participate in YLG during their junior year of high school. The Greenville Chamber’s goal is to have a student from each of the public and private schools in Greenville County participate. YLG is made possible by these partners and sponsors: Partners
