Young Professionals Can Benefit from Senior Co-workers

Millennials, Generation X, Baby Boomers...these are all terms we hear about in the workplace, but we do not always fully understand how our generation affects our work ethic, opinions, and even trust in other colleagues.  The workplace is a melting pot of ages, backgrounds, and expertise.  If we can learn to embrace diversity, our jobs and companies can greatly benefit. Sometimes there's that awkward silence between two colleagues due to a generation gap and the fact that you probably don't have anything in common.  Sometimes there's an internal conflict because you feel like you have to constantly prove yourself to older professionals.  Both of these scenarios are bound to happen when you bring different generations and beliefs into one workplace. Our company spends a great deal of time educating organizations on generations. Your advice and the article you have linked both drive a very important point. For all the differences between the generations, and there are some significant one's, two points can be game changing. 1- There are numerous similarities! 2- Many of the differences can be learning opportunities for younger and older people, not just topics to disagree on.
