The Sunshine House Early Learning Academy has expanded its footprint in the Upstate. The national child care and early education company headquartered in Greenville has opened a new center off Wade Hampton Boulevard in Taylors. They hosted an open house / fall festival at the center Sept. 10, as well as a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the newest location. The 5,200-square-foot building has been recently renovated to accommodate 100 children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years. The open concept floor plan features all new classrooms and equipment for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, pre-kindergarteners, and afterschool students. The new center also features state-of-the art fire and security systems and a nationally-recognized, research-based curriculum. This is the third new center the company will open in the upstate this year. The Sunshine House opened its East Butler Road, Mauldin, location in May, followed by the opening of The Sunshine House on Hwy. 81 in the Powdersville community in June. “The Upstate is one of the best areas of the country for us to expand our programs right now,” said Chief Executive Officer Dale Vervaet. “With the influx of new business and industry, and higher education expansions throughout the I-85 corridor, more and more families are in need of affordable, quality child care. And, of course, the Upstate is our back yard.” The Sunshine House was founded in the upstate in 1975 with one child care center in Greenwood. The company has since grown to 140-plus locations in nine states and employs more than 2,400 child care professionals – 280 of them in Greenville, Spartanburg, Pickens, Anderson and Greenwood counties. The company services more than 12,000 children across the country.
