The Greenville Chamber’s Minority Business Accelerator Program helps accelerate the development of high potential minority business enterprises (MBEs) to strengthen and expand the regional minority entrepreneurial community.
The Global Vision Leaders Group showcased Greenville Chamber’s Minority Business Accelerator Program in its regional Get Connected Incubator and Accelerator Expo event sponsored by JP Morgan Chase & Co. The Get Connected! Incubator and Accelerator Expo was held on May 19, 2016, at the Harris Conference Center in Charlotte, NC and attracted more than 125 startup entrepreneurs and small business owners from diverse industry sectors. MBA was selected for its unique approach in stimulating economic development in the minority business community. The Chamber’s MBA Program gained notoriety when it was selected in 2015 amongst those awarded by the US SBA for growth and excellence resulting in a $50,000 grant. The expos Best in Show Small Business Panel Discussion featured, MBA participant, James Jordon of JCC General Contractors as a standout success from across the region who has excelled with the help of a local accelerator program. James Jordon, was selected to participate base on his incredible success story that covers many key strategies, including mentor protégé relationship with another one of our MBA participants, more than 100% revenue increase, and recipient of a special program for minority contractors with Greenville Health System that results in $1M contract – all of these factors directly attributable to activities related to the Chamber’s MBA program.
The goals of the event were to:
- heighten awareness of business incubation and acceleration resources in the region
- connect entrepreneurs and owner to resources to help fast track success
- inspire attendees and knowledge share to help grow and develop entrepreneurial talent
