Business Celebration: Martin Printing Company

Posted by: Rionne Ridgeway on Friday, September 16, 2016

September is a great month: Football season, the beginning of fall, and cooler temperatures (in theory). This year, September contains a special anniversary.  To paraphrase one of my favorite Golden Girls, “Picture it- September, 1966… Martin Printing joins their Greenville Chamber.”

Founded in 1902, Martin Printing began as a letterpress shop on the familiar corner of N. Main and Stone Ave.  Fast forward to 2016, and Martin Printing is now in a 100,000 square foot production facility and on their third generation of family ownership, so we were honored to help them celebrate!  In 1953, Martin Printing made history, “as the first printer in the Carolinas and Georgia to operate a web offset press.”

According to their website, Martin Printing is a one-stop shop “offering a complete range of integrated services to support you through every step of your communication strategies, from concept development, graphic design and printing to fulfillment, mail handling, and digital publishing.”

They have the hardware to prove how outstanding they are.  In fact, in April 2016 Martin Printing was recognized as winners of the prestigious PICA Awards (Printing Industry of the Carolinas)! Since 1966, the PICA Awards have been the premier symbol of excellence for the graphics industry in NC and SC.  Martin Printing won 6 Best of Category Awards, 1 Special Judges Award, and 2 Awards of Excellence.

A lot has happened in the United States’ economy since 1966: A market downturn and recession between 1973-1975; inflation; recessions in 1980 and 1981; the stock market crash of 1987; the crash of 2001-2003 (the dot-com era); and most recently the crash and subsequent recession that began in late 2007-2009.  Through it all, Martin Printing has remained loyal to their Greenville Chamber, and September marks their 50th year of Greenville Chamber investment.

Thank you, Martin Printing, for your continued investment! Here’s to 50 more!
