Greenville Chamber Ambassadors

  1. an accredited diplomat sent by a country as its official representative to a foreign country. "the French ambassador to Portugal"
  1. a person who acts as a representative or promoter of a specified activity.

When I began working at the Greenville Chamber, one of my roles was to re-introduce an Ambassador program. Ambassadors are volunteers who donate their time to promote Chamber Activities. Anyone who knows me, knows that I preach about time being our most precious non-renewable resource, so the fact that these dedicated folks CHOOSE to spend that valuable resource promoting the Chamber, and through that additionally, the companies they represent, is such an incredible honor and responsibility. I feel compelled to make sure it is a mutually beneficial experience, and a good, effective, hopefully impactful use of their time.

Ambassadors attend events such as Ribbon Cuttings and Grand Openings to welcome our newest businesses in Greenville. They may suggest Chamber events to attend that would be beneficial, and an Ambassador may even be the person helping you sign in or register at an event. As the program expands, their duties and responsibilities will as well. A major benefit of being an Ambassador is the unique ability to earn points that convert to Chamber Bucks then can be spent to attend events that maybe wouldn’t be in the company’s budget otherwise!

One of the things that I found remarkable was that the people who applied to become Ambassadors after our initial interest meeting all came from different sized companies and industries! Our Ambassador pool is every bit as diverse as our investors!

So many different businesses are represented, all with different reasons for becoming Ambassadors, but the one thing I saw over and over in their applications was their genuine desire to help people.

If you’d like more information about becoming an Ambassador, representing the Greenville Chamber, and your business at events, attend the next Ambassador Interest Meeting later this fall. You must attend that meeting to unlock the ability to apply to become an Ambassador. The company you work for must be an investor in good standing for minimum of one year, and there is a small one-time fee. The most important requirement: a desire to want to help people do something that matters!
