Meet the Team: Anna Russell

Posted by: Anna Russell on Monday, January 27, 2020

Hi there! My name is Anna and I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to help the Greenville Chamber advocate for business that will help South Carolina grow and thrive. I am a Maryland native, coming from about 40 miles outside of Washington D.C., and I grew up with dreams of working in politics. I am a proud recent graduate from Clemson University with a degree in History and a minor in Political Science. Go Tigers!

My most recent position was interning for Congressman Jeff Duncan in South Carolina’s Third District. In this position I was able to grasp the fundamentals of congressional leadership and gain an awareness of some of the issues facing the Upstate. I also had the opportunity to travel to Prague in the Czech Republic in the summer of 2019 to study history and political science. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that provided me with a new global perspective on politics and history.

Some might call me a rather passionate football fan. You can find me cheering on the Clemson Tigers or Baltimore Ravens every weekend in the fall—typically with a raspy voice following the game. I have been fortunate enough to watch Clemson play in three National Championship games in my four years as a student. I am the captain this year for the Tiger Strut Dance Company at Clemson and I teach classes at Clemson Elite Dance Center during the week. I have been dancing my entire life and I am grateful that I was able to continue this art throughout my college career.

I am looking forward to working with the Greenville Chamber as a Business Advocacy intern this spring. I cannot wait to see what where these next few months take me!
