What is Leadership Greenville?
Leadership Greenville is a 9-month experience that for over 45 years, has been part of the fabric of our community, graduating over 2000 leaders! The program is transformational for both participants and the organizations they lead. Participants become armed with a broad understanding of our community’s most pressing issues and the ability to activate an influential and collaborative network.
What will the Leadership Greenville experience be like?
We know that meeting in person creates the most impactful experience for Leadership Greenville class members. It is also imperative that we provide a safe environment for our experience. For the upcoming Leadership Greenville Class 47, the class size will be reduced to more safely gather for in person sessions as well as following all recommended COVID safety guidelines. The Leadership Greenville program year begins with a mandatory two-day retreat (no overnight) in October and concludes with graduation in May. During the program year, the class meets one day per month at varying locations in the greater Greenville community. Through interactive dialogue with community leaders and experiential learning, participants will fully explore and learn more about local government, education, economic development, community issues, healthcare, and the culture of Greenville County. A team community service project is also part of the Leadership Greenville experience. Participants will see it all through the eyes of experienced area leaders who deal every day with our community’s biggest challenges. Armed with new knowledge, connections, and perspectives, our participants are prepared to take their places as effective community leaders. Without doubt, this intensive leadership experience educates, equips, and empowers leaders in our community that traditional programs cannot offer.
What can I expect to take away from Leadership Greenville?
Through the 9-month experience, the competitively selected class of our community’s top leaders gain a true understanding of the people and issues shaping Greenville’s future. More importantly, they see how they can impact those issues. The connections made with classmates and the interaction with top community leaders adds value to this program well before and beyond graduation.
Organizations also benefit in many ways as your company leaders gain outside perspective, learn from other industries, and make connections to innovate the way you do business. Participants will gain better understanding and take responsibility for the broader community, providing new opportunities for your organization to engage firsthand with vital community issues. More informed, connected, and empowered leaders give companies more influence and ability to impact the greater good.

What can I do to strengthen my application?
Participating in Opportunity Greenville can strengthen your application. Opportunity Greenville is a five-week program that offers everyone from newcomers to native Greenvillians a fascinating “insider’s” look at our community. It’s all designed to give attendees a more complete view and understanding of Greenville along with a better sense of how to put leadership into action. Opportunity Greenville will be delivered in a virtual delivery to create a safer and more accessible experience which will begin on Monday, September 28 and the following four Mondays in October, with the exception of October 12 where we meet on Tuesday, October 13, to reflect the Columbus Day holiday. You may also consider involvement with the Greenville Chamber Young Professionals as well as Propel Greenville, our six-week experience to create potential and existing board and committee members for more impactful service.
What happens after my application is submitted?
Once you have submitted your application form and all other components, your application will be considered complete. A Leadership Greenville Selection Committee, made up of Leadership Greenville Alumni and Chamber leadership, will determine who will be invited to join the class. By the end of August, all applicants will be notified if they have been accepted, assigned as an alternate, or non-acceptance.
