World Explorers Group, currently comprised of Brooklyn Explorers and Greenville Explorers, has the dedicated mission to offer expert family education services including preschool, camp, and after-school services to children across the world. The foundation to our success stems from our dedication to building community in the staff, families, and children we serve; to ensuring that our team is valued, has access to opportunities for growth, development, and success, and are able to benefit from the success of the company; to the whole child experience including attention to healthy eating, physical fitness, access to the math, science, and technology, and an appreciation for literature and art that reflects children in their own unique image; and to remain leaders in creative educational programming including direct services, curriculum development, and product development. World Explorers believes that it takes a village, and you’ve found one!
In 2003, Kisha Edwards-Gandsy, a Pelzer native, and Keyanna Murrill began laying the groundwork for Brooklyn Explorers while in college at New York University. Starting with just a business plan, a cell phone, and little financial resources, the first programs debuted in New York City. As faithful teaching artists, they worked to design the first curriculums, excursion itineraries, creative child-care services and programs that have evolved into Brooklyn Explorers Academy Preschool, Backpacks & Binoculars camp and after school programs, and a host of creative enrichment classes, birthday parties, and flexible drop-off childcare programs. Their investment of time and faith has harvested opportunities for over 200 employees, and 1500 families across New York City over the last decade.
In August of 2020, World Explorers answered the call for a unique need in Greenville, SC. Poised with a business model and “faithful flexibility”, Explorers expanded to the Upstate. This began with Museum School & Aftercare, working to meet a Covid-specific need in providing pod-style childcare and eLearning assistance housed in The Children’s Museum of the Upstate. Greenville Explorers, however, is growing and evolving as quickly as the local climate, and transitioned to 135 S Main Street in early March. As Greenville’s newest and premiere Tourist and Family Activities Services provider, this new location will be home to administrative offices and a multi-purpose classroom and event space. This space will first be used by spring break and summer campers, and will soon house other classes and events, such as My Caregiver & Me and 2nd Saturday STEAM Workshops, which are both currently held virtually. Plans are in place to expand our programming to events such as drop-off childcare pajama parties, special-topic seminars, child and family focused day excursions, and holiday spectaculars.
The Ribbon Cutting for Greenville Explorers’ downtown location of 135 S Main Street, Suites 100 & 101A, was held on March 11, 2021 at 4pm.
