South Wind Ranch has burst into the Greenville Wedding & Event market becoming one of the top venues in the South. South Wind Ranch is a unique 33-acre Wedding & Event Venue in Travelers Rest nestled among rolling hills, a 3-acre spring fed lake, and with a breathtaking view of the North Carolina mountains. South Wind Ranch was created with the intent to offer a new experience for Brides, Grooms, and Guests. “We focus on the entire experience someone visiting the ranch will have,” says Ron Hakala owner and operator.

With a solid background in Private Club management combined with extensive market studies of the area, South Wind Ranch was designed to provide the ultimate event experience. There is so much natural beauty! It is tailor-made for weddings and corporate events. South Wind Ranch features a 3-bedroom Bridal Suite / Guest House, a Chapel on the Lake, a Bonfire Rehearsal Dinner Pavilion, and a white Party Barn that seats 300. Many of the venues went rustic which is becoming a fad. South Wind Ranch was built with a county-chic style that offers a certain elegance which requires little decorations to make the venue “pop!”

With indoor-outdoor features, South Wind Ranch was able to navigate through the 2020 covid virus year by offering a safe open-air environment. Wedding business actually increased in 2020 and 2021 has been a record pace. Wedding bookings have filled up every weekend in 2021 and many weekends in 2022 already.  “We had to hire 3 full-time dedicated Event Coordinators to handle all the business”, said Ron. “We have also added an assistant, 2 Furman interns, and have created our own Floral & Design team. South Wind Ranch has invited a select group of Preferred Vendors to create “one stop shopping”.

This year South Wind Ranch was selected to grace the cover of the Upstate’s prominent wedding magazine, Weddings & Events. This honor has been in addition to 2 Wedding Wire Awards and last year’s NACE award. When a Bride and Groom book their date at South Wind Ranch, they immediately become Members of the Ranch. Membership offers them photo access to the Ranch…forever! During the year SWR throws several Bonfire Parties celebrating past couples and future couples. “It’s another benefit of Membership and a way to give back,” says Ron. This year South Wind Ranch is launching our new Corporate Initiative. It’s called “Living Large, Corporate Style” Businesses are encouraged to create an organic experience for their employees or clients. SWR is prepared for DIY Events or we can provide the entire agenda. Business Workshops are a great way to team-build and learn. Living Large means doing things with intention. South Wind Ranch has become a special Venue in just 2 short years. They plan to attract 20,000 people a year to the Traveler’s Rest market.
