All businesses run on the power of the leaders within that business, and when businesses have leaders present in all facets of the workplace, the machine runs smoother and more efficiently than ever. In fact, research from the Kansas Institute shows that increased leadership in all areas of the company has resulted in greater openness to change, increased trust in the organization, greater focus on equity, and even increased progress on organizational projects. With all these positive changes in the company as a result, leadership training has become one of the most pertinent endeavors a business can take on.
The non-profit sector also benefits directly by quelling issues of burnout and low worker retention rates with increased leadership training. Studies have found that employees with enhanced leadership capabilities are found to be much more engaged, more committed to the organization, and even found to be more satisfied with their daily job. The upside to saturating your work environment with leadership training is clear and has made such a remarkable impact on so many organizations thus far.
So how do we know this is true? How do we prove that leadership training is the reason why these businesses are increasing productivity? The Chartered Management Institute calls it a ‘chain of impact’ that effects not the productivity of a business, but the individual factors that go in to improving productivity. These may include employee engagement, organization commitment, increased job satisfaction, and more, depending on the types of leadership training presented.
In other words, leadership training provides the pieces to complete the puzzle of a successful business.
The Chartered Management Institute also echoes the Kansas Leadership Center in that on-the-job, in-person leadership development is the most effective way to make the ideas lead to effective business results. Additionally, if not already understood, they both also point to the fact that more is better when it comes to leadership development. Having multiple lessons is extremely effective in producing productive workplaces and bourgeoning new ways for businesses to run even smoother.
With all of this in mind, it is clear that leadership training is nothing but a boost for businesses, including non-profit sector workplaces as well.
