Internship Reflection: Elisabeth Ford

Posted by: Elisabeth Ford on Friday, July 30, 2021

Being a marketing intern at the Greenville Chamber this summer has truly been one of my favorite experiences that have helped me grow professionally and individually. Working at an organization so close to home, the Greenville Chamber has given me a fresh perspective on the city and the productivity that goes on behind the scenes of improving the wellbeing of Greenville. The Greenville Chamber allowed me to work with others on projects and provided me with skills that I would not have gained in a classroom setting or any other place. This opportunity has provided me with marketing experience that has expanded my career aspirations and connections that I will cherish forever.

It has been amazing to work at an organization connected to the city I have many memories of, while also improving the economy of Greenville. I have grown up coming to the Greenville Zoo, Fluor Field, and just walking downtown; but the internship has shown me the various roles that the Greenville Chamber plays in furthering the Greenville community through relationships with businesses and nonprofits. I have learned how much more the city offers beyond its creative businesses and the initiatives the Greenville Chamber has started up to make the city a better place.

I have loved meeting the Greenville Chamber staff and working with them in various projects and meetings. It was a pleasure to meet so many people focused on making a greater Greenville and work in a place that was so inviting and comfortable. When looking for an internship, I was looking for an organization centered around the wellbeing of its community on a personal level; the Greenville Chamber has given me that and much more while also providing a glimpse of the values, environment, and purpose I look for in working at an organization. I loved looking forward to the days I would come into the office, collaborating with workers, and watching the growth of Greenville unfold.

I truly cannot thank the Greenville Chamber enough for inviting me as a marketing intern this summer, giving me a true experience of working in Downtown Greenville, and participating in their purpose of furthering this city. It has been inspiring to learn about all the Greenville Chamber's initiatives while also learning essential skills, jumping into new projects, and working with amazing people. As Clemson graduates pursuing marketing, Emma and Megan have been such great mentors that have helped me navigate my time at the Greenville Chamber and gain experience in different areas of marketing. I have loved my time at the Greenville Chamber and whether I am in Clemson or Spartanburg, I am never too far from seeing the positive change incited by the Chamber to make a greater Greenville.
