In Business: Greenville Theatre

Greenville Theatre is thrilled to be celebrating 96 years serving our community through necessary art and storytelling. On May 3rd, 2022, we celebrated a “re-dedication” with a ribbon cutting on the front steps of our historic, Heritage Green theatre with the Greenville Chamber. A time to reflect on our illustrious past and look forward to the magic that is yet to be created on our stage!

In 1926, a group of like-minded artists came together and formed “Greenville Artists Guild” to create a theatrical space for artistic, political, and historical importance. Two years later they renamed themselves “Community Little Theatre” and later, “Greenville Little Theatre.” The organization performed at Greenville High School, an Air Force base theater on Lowndes Hill Road and eventually found it’s perfect, permanent home on Heritage Green.

Since 1993, attendance has grown from 24,000 to more than 82,000 annual patrons, and a name modification to “Greenville Theatre” was made in 2019 to better reflect the size and influence of the Theatre.  Now celebrating 96 years, Greenville Theatre is proud to sit at the helm of the Upstate's thriving theatre scene, entertaining more audience members than any other local producing theatre in the state of South Carolina and attracting more visitors to the Upstate from across the region.
