The YoPro Know Named October Small Business of the Month

When asked if the path of entrepreneurship was ever part of her plan in college, Kamber Parker, Founder of The YoPro Know, would tell you “Definitely not!”. After exploring the corporate insurance world, followed by the small nonprofit she worked at for nearly 4.5 years, Parker launched her own business after years of building up her brand. The journey was not planned, but it was worth it.

After her first job, Parker realized there was a problem in the workplace. Young professionals were job-hopping at a rapid pace and there didn’t seem to be the right resources to help her or her peers. She created a blog to reflect the stories of other young professionals (“YoPros”) and today, The YoPro Know ‘s business model stems from the knowledge of 1,000+ interviews with young professionals across the country.

“After two years of interviews, I realized I had an increasing number of overlapping messages from young professionals that I knew business leaders and experienced professionals needed to hear”, Parker said. “You know there’s an issue when a company, on average, loses 1/3 of their employees’ salary with every exit (Gallup). I knew I needed to do something.”

Today, the company serves its clients across the region in various industries as a consultant group, guiding companies to developing stronger recruiting and retention strategies of young professional talent, which by definition, mean 21-39 years old.

While Parker took the company full time this year, she has five years’ worth of data that she uses daily to work with her clients, spanning from law firms and financial advising groups to architectural companies. She has helped businesses not only impact their retention practices, but she has developed strategies for her clients to create a more positive culture, increased communication and positivity among employees, and increased savings.

Her entrepreneurial journey has expanded into different business models as well, leading Parker to building a digital media marketing business as a branch of The YoPro Know. Recognizing the connection between social media and recruiting has given her business an edge in the world of recruiting and retention, and she is excited to see where both branches of her business lead in the next year.

On average, young professionals will have 4 different jobs by the time they reach 30 (Gallup). As the Founder of YPK, Parker nearly fits this statistic ranking in at 3 careers before 30, though she knows this journey of entrepreneurship will be the last stop for her!

The team is honored to be the October Small Business of the Month. Thank you to The Greenville Chamber for this recognition.
