Governor Henry McMaster and Congressman Jim Clyburn held a press conference Tuesday providing updates on broadband access for rural communities in South Carolina. Along with several state agencies, McMaster and Clyburn announced a new campaign called 'GetConnectedSC'.
“We applaud the work Governor McMaster and Congressman Clyburn have done to enhance access to rural broadband," said Jason Zacher, Greenville Chamber Senior Vice President of Business Advocacy & Upstate Chamber Coalition Executive Director. "Access to fast, reliable broadband is the equivalent of the rural electrification for the 21st Century. Thanks to the funding from the General Assembly and Congress, our state has moved forward in leaps and bounds in the past few years. This is the kind of transformative project we continue to encourage our leaders to pursue.”
This effort to provide broadband internet access to all South Carolinians, no matter where they live, is accompanied by a website - GetConnectedSC.org. There you can an survey that will allow you to give input on how the state should move forward with this major investment.
The Greenville Chamber Business Advocacy Department also provides many ways to get involved with these types of efforts. Click here to learn more about joining issues committees, like the Growth & Infrastructure Committee.
