My name is Marissa Powe, and I am the Diversity and Economic Inclusion Intern for summer 2023.

I am originally from Moore, South Carolina. I attend the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois, where I study Spanish Language and Literature as well as Critical Race and Ethnic Studies. I am on the varsity Women’s Basketball Team, and I am involved in UChicago’s Women’s Athletic Association, Student Athletic Advisory Committee, and Black Letter-winning Athlete Coalition. In my leisure time, I like to explore the different Chicago neighborhoods with friends and work on different crafting projects.

I am excited to learn more about the role of the Greenville Chamber in the upstate community and its commitment to furthering economic growth through DEI. I am also looking forward to my growth and development as a young professional and fostering connections with others.

After my internship concludes, I will be returning to UChicago as a fourth-year student. I will graduate in May of 2024. In the future I am looking forward to pursuing a career in the field of DEI, and I am enthusiastic to learn more about the field at the Greenville Chamber.
