Leadership Greenville Class 51 is excited to announce this year's class projects: Conestee Nature Preserve and United Ministries.

Central to the Leadership Greenville experience is the completion of community service projects. Nearly 80 projects over the course of 50 years have had a profound and lasting impact.  Whether revitalizing public spaces, supporting non-profits, or addressing social issues, projects embody Leadership Greenville’s spirit of civic responsibility and stewardship.

At the Greenville Chamber's Annual Meeting on February 27th, TD Bank announced a $5,000 donation to support this year's projects, reinforcing their dedication to leadership development and community impact.

Conestee Preserve:

Conestee Nature Preserve is a vital resource, giving nearly 6,000 children in Greenville County Schools a chance to connect with nature each year — free of charge. As a Wildlife Sanctuary and Bird Area of Global Significance, it serves as a hub for environmental education by using nature as the classroom.

Hurricane Helene destroyed many of the trails and recreational areas including the space used for environmental education. Many of the tables used were destroyed by trees and debris. This project is focused on replacing all the current wood picnic tables with long-lasting sustainable options that can be used for future generations. The request is for seating for approximately 100 people with each table able to accommodate 8 seats (12total picnic tables).

United Ministries:

This group is working to transform the Place of Hope at United Ministries. The Place of Hope provides essential services to the Greenville residents who need them most, including personal hygiene, laundry, weather-appropriate clothing, case management, and more.

By providing a safe space for these basic needs, United Ministries is better able to address the core factors contributing to homelessness, such as unemployment, health challenges, substance use, mental illness, education barriers, or lack of opportunities for upward mobility.
