Hello Greenville!
As we look ahead to our highly anticipated Fall 2025 Intercommunity Leadership Visit to Boise, Idaho, I'm thrilled to share an update from our recent site visit. The goal was simple: to ensure we make the absolute best use of our time, providing strong content with compelling speakers in unexpected and inspiring settings that will help us continue to grow a greater Greenville.
Boise, a city consistently recognized for its livability, economic performance, and innovation, proved to be an exceptional choice. From May 2024, U.S. News ranked it as the #2 Best U.S. City to Live, and the Milken Institute named it the #3 Best Performing City in February 2024. As we explored the city, it became clear why Boise is such a vibrant and growing community.
Our visit allowed us to experience the unique blend of urban energy and natural beauty that Boise offers. We walked through the clean, safe, and very walkable downtown, bustling with activity, much like our own vibrant Main Street. We also took in the breathtaking panoramic views of the city nestled among the trees, with the rolling foothills in the distance.
A key highlight was witnessing firsthand the significant investments in the region, particularly at the Micron fab project. With a massive $15 billion investment under the CHIPS Act, and other major companies like Meta, Albertsons, Simplot, and Boise Cascade driving growth, Boise is a hub of innovation and economic impact. We saw the ongoing construction, a clear sign of the city's future-focused vision, and we were particularly interested in how their workforce development and educational initiatives through Boise State University and the College of Western Idaho are supporting this growth.
Beyond the business and innovation, Boise impressed us with its community spirit and rich cultural offerings. We visited engaging outdoor venues and saw the community's commitment to creating spaces for learning and development, such as the Micron Early Learning Center. There’s a palpable sense of "Boise nice" that resonates deeply with Greenville's own welcoming spirit.
The connections we made and the insights we gained during this preparatory trip will be invaluable in crafting a program that provides fresh perspectives, ideas, and inspiration for our 75 business, community, and political leaders joining us from September 9 to 12, 2025. Just like Greenville, Boise is actively shaping its future, and we're excited for our attendees to engage in similar conversations and bring back actionable ideas for our community.
We are confident that the 2025 Intercommunity Leadership Visit will be an enriching experience, offering unparalleled opportunities to learn, connect, and, most importantly, find your fresh perspective in Boise.
