What is an Intercommunity Leadership Visit?
A biennial, multiday deep dive with 100 business, community and political leaders in a peer or aspirational community to help us create the Greenville we want. ILVs provide: Ideas, Inspiration, Connections.
Why Boise?
- #2 Best U.S. City to Live - U.S. News, May 2024
- #3 Best Performing City - Milken Institute, February 2024
- #7 Most Cutting-Edge Midsize City - Wall Street Journal, October 2023
- #4 Best Run City in America - WalletHub, June 2023
Boise (the City of Trees, "a wildly improbable city") is very similar to Greenville - a mid-size metro that punches above its weight and that has spent the past 40 years creating a quality of life that is attracting talent, capital, and companies from across the U.S. With increased in-migration, Boise is dealing with the consequences of its own success, including housing affordability, child care, traffic, infrastructure, etc.
Micron, founded in Boise, recently announced a $15B investment under the CHIPS Act. Meta is building a new $800MM data center. Albertsons, Simplot and Boise Cascade continue to have a tremendous impact on the community. Like Greenville, Boise is preparing for the future through workforce and education initiatives (Boise State University and College of Western Idaho) and through growing its entrepreneurial ecosystem (Trailhead).
While in a high-desert environment, the Boise River Greenbelt provides 25 miles of activity through the core of the City, with nearby mountains providing hiking and skiing less than a 45 minute drive away.
Boise is a fascinating case study of leaders making pivotal decisions to invest in their own community. As they continue to grow, will they be able to sustain that success?
Attendees will see much of Greenville in Boise, from the clean, safe and very walkable downtown to the community pride that residents have in Boise. (And, yes, there is such a thing as "Boise nice"). Finally, they will see and hear similar conversations that we are having now in Greenville about our own future.
Come join and find ideas, inspiration and connections in Boise!
