The Greenville Chamber issued ratings for each of the six candidates running for local office in Greenville, SC. Ratings were based upon written responses to business-related questions and in-person interviews conducted by local business leaders.

The annual candidate qualification assessment is released to assist the business community in their decision to back a candidate. The Chamber does not endorse candidates.

Seats up for election are Mayor, City Council At-Large, City Council District 1, and City Council District 3.

The candidates completed a 12-question written survey on local issues such as growth and development, transit and infrastructure, workforce/affordable housing, business license fees, and major projects such as a downtown convention center and County Square. Participating candidates were interviewed by a panel of 8-12 business leaders.

“Local elected officials play a vitally important role in protecting the vibrancy of our community,” said Carlos Phillips, Greenville Chamber President/CEO. “While we hope Greenville County voters use this report as a helpful guide for discerning differences between candidates, at the end of the day we just hope people will take the time to vote.”

Election Day is November 5, 2019. View the ratings and text responses here.
