Leadership Greenville Class 52 is continuing a long-standing tradition of community impact through a meaningful service project in partnership with Berea Middle School. Together, the group has created a new Community & Collaboration Courtyard, with an official ribbon cutting scheduled for Monday, May 18, 2026 at 12:30 pm.

 

The Community & Collaboration Courtyard transformed an underused outdoor area into a vibrant and engaging learning environment where students can grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The new space features 23 outdoor desks, a teacher’s station, and a large-scale mural — all intentionally designed to encourage creativity, collaboration, and hands-on learning experiences.

 

The project was made possible through more than $25,000 in donated funds, along with additional in-kind contributions of materials, labor, and volunteer support from community partners.

 

“You’re happier when you’re in the sunshine, so I think it’s going to help kids instructionally and academically, but also socially because students are going to want to learn together outside,” said Brianna Falvey, Principal of Berea Middle School.

 

Leadership Greenville Class 52 selected Berea Middle School as its 2026 project partner after hearing Principal Falvey’s vision for an outdoor learning environment focused on connection, collaboration, and student success. Her passion for creating opportunities for every student, regardless of circumstance — inspired the class to help bring the vision to life.

 

The weatherproof outdoor classroom will provide students and educators with lasting opportunities for innovative learning experiences for years to come while creating a welcoming environment that fosters engagement and community.
