This spring, we surveyed our Board of Directors and Accelerate leadership to understand how they are seeing current conditions and the near-term outlook across the Upstate.
Confidence remains positive, though more muted than before. The Business Confidence Index came in at 12.07, down from 22.41 last fall.
Looking ahead, expectations are steady. About 41 percent of respondents expect no change in sector conditions over the next six months.
The challenges shaping decisions are consistent:
- Cost pressures tied to inflation and supply chains
- Ongoing difficulty hiring and filling roles
- Tighter access to capital
These factors continue to define the operating environment.
What is notable is the posture of local leaders. Even with slower national signals, the Upstate outlook remains constructive. Businesses are moving forward with a closer eye on cost, risk, and timing.
Our next survey will be conducted in early fall. For additional information on the survey or on market data in general, contact [email protected].
